The Medication That Ruined My Life

Blogs By Heidi

Many of you will be familiar with my story of how it took me over two years to recover from using topical steroid creams on my skin as a result of eczema. It’s a story I’m very open about because it’s a big part of why I do what I do now as a holistic health coach.

This photo was taken 4.5 years ago, at around the 12 month mark into steroid withdrawal. What you can’t see is the unbearable itch, the wounds on my scalp, the night sweats, the sleepless nights, the bucket loads of shedding skin and the utter despair I felt. You also can’t see my chest, abdomen and heavily bandaged arms, mutilated, bleeding and ripped to shreds from my fingernails. I’m sure you can imagine I was not a happy camper.

I felt the urge to post this because so many people are unaware of what some medication, dispensed by their doctor, is actually doing to them. My doctor, and 99% of doctors around the world refuse to acknowledge topical steroid withdrawal. I tend to keep that angry rant to myself but I’m sure you can imagine the type of words I unleash in my head.

I’m not suggesting you immediately come off your meds because that would be dangerous. What I am suggesting is that you think twice before relying on medication to fix your health issues.

I am now a holistic health coach because of the horror of what conventional medicine did to me. Would I change the past if I could? Honestly, no, because otherwise I wouldn’t be here helping other people heal with a holistic and safe approach.

Don’t buy into the message that your condition is incurable or you need a lifetime of medication. The majority of the time, this is simply not true. Give the body what it needs and the right environment to heal, and you can transform your health and your life.

Trust me when I say it’s a much better path.
