What is Your North Star?

What is Your North Star?

Are you clear on your purpose in life?

Are you living your life in a way that fulfils that purpose?

I think a big source of discontent for a lot of people is their clarity around who they are and why they are here. They don’t have a north star, guiding the way.

Without a purpose, it can be difficult to find meaning in what we do in our day-to-day lives. We end up lacking focus and direction, simply because we aren’t clear on what we want and how we can live a life that leaves a unique mark on the world. We can end up stuck in the past, regurgitating the same old habits, patterns and thoughts that leave us empty and questioning the reason for it all.

Your purpose doesn’t have to be grandiose and shouted from the rooftops. It simply must be something that resonates deeply within you and gets you out of bed in the morning. It could be being an expert in your chosen field, being the best mum you can be, or caring for others. Maybe it’s to teach or create art for others to enjoy.

One of the most valuable exercises you will ever do is spend the time to identify your purpose.

It won’t magically fall from the sky one day and land in your lap. It’s likely that it will evolve in its own time, with a good sprinkling of patience and trust. You may be in your 40s, 50s, 60, heck, you might be 85 when it finally strikes you.

It doesn’t matter how or when it reveals itself. What matters is that you are open to new ideas and ways of thinking, and watching for signs that come your way, prompting and prodding you to pay attention.

One of the recurring themes we talk about in our World of Holistic Wellness community is becoming the best version of you. Nobody else has your unique blend of experiences, thoughts, wisdom, traits and ideas. You are a special individual, simply because you’re you.

Every unique individual has a purpose, and it’s up each of us to figure out what it is so we can make our world, and that of others, better.

I can’t wait to explore this concept more deeply during our upcoming retreat.
