How a Plant-Based Diet Transformed My Life

Blogs By Heidi

It’s almost five years since I went plant-based. While there’s too many to mention, here’s a few of the ways my life has changed:

I am no longer confused about what’s ‘healthy’ and what is not. I know exactly what I need to eat to stay well physically and mentally and I follow this 85-90% of the time. The rest of the time I do what I want, with zero guilt.

My mood is consistent and stable and I very rarely experience a bad mood / irritability / anxiety (beyond what is normal in stressful or uncertain circumstances).

I very rarely get sick with common illnesses such as the common cold or flu.

I know how to manage my eczema / asthma / hay fever and I no longer experience vertigo (vertigo is the shittiest state of affairs and I am delighted to be rid of it).

My body weight is stable and doesn’t fluctuate. Actually I haven’t got a clue what my exact weight is and I don’t care. My non-stretch denim jeans tell me everything I need to know.

My energy levels are consistently high (provided I get enough sleep) and this allows me to do everything I need to and want to do during the day.

Because I have a stable state of mind and energy levels, I have the capacity to help others – not just in my job but in life in general.

My fear of developing a chronic illness has plummeted. I know there are no guarantees but I feel confident in my choices and this frees up energy to focus on enjoying my life.

I now view ageing as a privilege, not something to be feared. Age is just a number, and we can live a long and fulfilling life. I believe eating plant-based is to thank for that because I can appreciate how plants can keep me healthy into old age.

I am happy most of the time, I appreciate the fragility and preciousness of life and I never take my health for granted.

Believe me when I say this is available to all of us, and it’s not hard. A few tweaks here and there to the way you eat, exercise, sleep, manage your stress and what’s going on inside the gut is the name of the game.

If you follow a plant-based diet, I would love to hear some of the ways in which your life has been transformed!

And if you’re not, I encourage you to be open-minded and give it a try. You might just find it changes everything…..
